You CAN help Pomroy:

In a desperate attempt to help Pomroy and his friends, the author of Pomroy's World, Samuel Muggington, has created a 3D world.  He is attempting to enlist volunteers to build an exact simulation of the dark world in which Pomroy and his friends are trapped.

Before you start, buy the book:

It is highly recommended that you read the novel Pomroy's World before you enter the 3D simulation of Pomroy's World.  (You can buy Pomroy's World online (paperback) (kindle) or at your local bookstore.)

Create an account to use to connect to the Pomroy's World online 3D simulation:

  1.   Visit the following site to create an account:
  2.   Fill in the fields on the left and click the "Create" button.
  3.   This web page is only for creating accounts and limited other functions.  You will need to download and install a viewer such as the Metropolis Hippo Viewer to connect to the online 3D virtual world where Pomroy is trapped.

Download, install and configure an OpenSim compatible viewer, e.g. the Hippo viewer, and then connect to the Pomroy's World online 3D simulation:

  1. In order to use the Pomroy's World simulation, you will need to have a computer that can handle 3D graphics, and you will also need to download a client program.  Muggington recommends the Metropolis Hippo Viewer.  You can download Hippo here. Please feel to try out other viewers that are compatible with OpenSim.
  2. After downloading and installing the Hippo viewer, you should launch the Hippo viewer.  The first thing you need to do is to add PomroysWorld to the list of grids on the menu by following these steps:
    • Click on the Grids button
    • Next to Select a grid:, click on the Add button.
    • For Login URI enter
    • For Grid Nickname, type in PomroysWorld
    • For Grid Name, enter PomroysWorld
    • Click on Apply, and then OK
    • Make sure that PomroysWorld is in the box to the right of "Select a Grid:" and then click "default".  Once you have done this, then PomroysWorld will be the default grid and you won't have togo through the list to find it each time you want to connect.  By the way, the term "grid" refers to virtual world or a network of virtual worlds.
  3. Your next step is to login.  Go to Quick Grid Select (at the bottom) and choose "PomroysWorld"
  4. Enter your first and last name (Make sure to enter your first and last name exactly as when you created your account) and your password.
  5. Click the Log In button.  If everything goes well, you will be in Pomroy's World.  The default avatar is female, so males will have to go through a variety of steps to change your gender.

Find Pomroy:

  • You will need to learn much to find Pomroy and his friends.  Remember he is trapped in a strange world and he needs your help.
  • Feel free to explore.

If you can, help build Pomroy's World:

  • Once you are connected feel free to build.  You can create objects and scripts.  The only rule is that everything in the simulation should be faithful to the story of Pomroy's World.

Important notes:

This crude simulation was created by a writer named Samuel Muggington.  He is not an expert programmer so the initial 3D Pomroy's World will definitely have plenty of problems.  Please be patient.  The simulation of Pomroy's World is running on a computer in Muggington's basement so it may not presently have the capacity of Google or Amazon's servers, but who knows what will happen in the future.  Finally, since Pomroy is trapped on a world in a dark matter universe it is to be expected that we may have some difficulty communicating and interacting with him.

There will be a status report on Pomroy's World at this top of this page, so please check this page to see if the server is up and running or down for maintenance.  If you have difficulties or suggestions for improvements please send them to Samuel Muggington at and

Pomroy's World is a new virtual world based on the novel of the same name. If you are interested in learning more about the Pomroy's World online 3D simulation and how to build and create objects, please check out these links:
